Successful acquisition of DFG research funding
PD Dr. rer. nat. habil. Sjoerd van Wijk, group leader at the Institute of Experimental Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University Hospital of Goethe-University Frankfurt and financially supported by the Frankfurter Stiftung for krebskranke Kinder at the Dr. Petra Joh-Forschungshaus, has been granted funding by the German Research Foundation (DFG). In his new research project „Decrypting the USP22-homologous DUB network to sensitize pancreatic cancer for STING-mediated necroptosis“, PD Dr. rer. nat. habil. van Wijk and his team will explore new pathways, molecular mechanisms and novel therapies to treat chemoresistant pancreatic cancer by using so-called tumor organoids, small, patient-derived mini-tumors that allow targeted translational research approaches.
